I've started a series of ACEO's (tiny 2.5 X 3.5 inch paintings to sell or trade) based on The Language of Flowers. I recently read a novel by that name, and found out that in Victorian times, each flower had a special meaning and people would communicate a secret message to each other using flowers.
Here is a link to the novel The Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh and also to A Victorian Flower Dictionary.
The series so far:
Tulip ~ Declaration of Love
Daisy ~ Innocence
Pink Rose ~ Grace
Chinese Lantern ~ Meditation
Thistle ~ Misanthropy
More to follow.
Oh, and you can purchase these in my Etsy store!
Lovely series! Not surprised that thistle is mysanthropy!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dee! Yes, I'd be pretty worried if I got a bouquet of thistles!
ReplyDeleteHi Patricia! I just wanted to stop by and say hello and welcome to the Paint Out with Creative Catalyst Productions. We're going to do it just a bit differently this month, but I think it will be a lot of fun. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, Kelly!
ReplyDeleteHi Patty, These ACEOs are lovely! The colors are so clear; just perfect for spring time!
ReplyDeleteThanks Peggy! Let's hope for some nice springtime weather now!
DeleteThese are so enticing - I am fascinated with the "language of love" and how you are interpreting it in your painting. Your watercolor aceo's are beautifully painted,
ReplyDeleteThanks, Barb! I can't wait to paint some more!
